Joe Williams has officially filed as a candidate for District 2 County Commissioner in Osage County. This district includes the Gilcrease Hills and Skyline areas of North Tulsa; parts of Skiatook and Sand Springs; parts of the Osage Nation Indian Tribe; and the Osage Casino near Downtown Tulsa is also located in this district. The primaries are being held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

Williams who is a former Tulsa City Councilor from 1994-2004 and the first African-American City Council Chairman in Tulsa history said, “I debated and prayed about this decision and concluded that I should continue as a public servant for people and try to continually improve our government and services for the citizens. North Tulsans living in Osage County have been left out for too long and received just minimal services for our taxes and it is time for that to change!”.

“I hope to bring more transparency to Osage County government and make it more accountable and efficient too. By saving on how tax dollars are used not only can we put more money back into the hands of the citizens but we can also provide more funding for economic development, public safety, education and safer roads and bridges. I also want to put a Satellite Osage County office in North Tulsa so that the citizens do not always have to drive to Pawhuska to conduct business and legal matters” said Williams.

“I believe I will be very competitive and can win but I will need a large turnout from voters in Gilcrease Hills and Skyline in Osage County supporting me in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday, June 30th to do so’ he concluded.
